Frequently asked questions

The answers I give most often, collected in one place.

I saved my tile. Why is it not on my store?

Saving stores the tile in your library. It renders only after you place it in the Target Editor and the StoCu block is enabled on that page in Shopify's editor. If the Target Editor shows any warning, the tile will not render. This is the number one question I get. Full checklist: Placement troubleshooting.

I installed StoCu but nothing renders at all.

Check that your free trial or plan is approved. You can build without approving the trial, but tiles do not render on the store until it is approved.

I hit Discard and lost my work.

Discard reverts to the previous save, not the previous edit. If you never saved, there is nothing to go back to. Save early and often; it is the one habit that prevents this entirely.

I placed two tiles on one page and both spots show both tiles.

That is the default: each free block instance renders every tile placed on the page. Pin them by setting Position 1 on one tile and Position 2 on the other, matching the numbers on the block instances. See Block positions.

What is the block in the editor that says nothing is positioned?

An editor-only placeholder. Customers never see it; it just marks an available spot.

Does checkout placement work on my plan?

Checkout tiles require your store to be on Shopify Plus; that is Shopify's platform rule for checkout customization. Account pages (orders, order status, profile, custom pages) work on every plan, and so does the thank-you page.

My display rule hides the tile in the editor preview.

Rules filter by the logged-in customer, and the editor's preview customer may not match. Create a test customer that matches your rule and log in as them; that is the real test.

My segment rule does not find my segment.

Segment names must be typed exactly as they appear under Customers, then Segments in your Shopify admin. Copy and paste the name to be safe.

Sidekick stopped mid-task.

Tell it "please continue" and it resumes. If the Apps list is empty when enabling StoCu, refresh the page. More in Sidekick tips.

Can I put an announcement bar on every page at once?

Placement is per page, so add and enable it on each page you want. As of July 2026, announcement bars work on thank-you, orders, order status, and profile pages, but not yet on custom pages or checkout.
